Brain Balance does not require that a child has a medical diagnosis, nor do we clinically diagnose medical conditions. Our focus is on understanding the struggles these children experience and helping them develop and strengthen the connections to help reduce those struggles.
For those who do have a diagnosis,1 research has shown that the unique challenges your child is facing can be linked to weak connections across different regions of the brain.
The Brain Balance assessment provides you with a deeper view of your child’s struggles. During the assessment, your child’s sensory, motor and cognitive development are evaluated. This assessment helps identify areas of development that need strengthening. The reasons why a child may excel in some areas but has trouble in others will become clearer. From the results, we create a plan that helps your child overcome their struggles.
Fill out our form now to get started. A team member from a Brain Balance Center near you will reach out to personally discuss your child’s challenges and schedule your child’s assessment.
When kids struggle with focus, behavior or sensory processing, it can be linked to weak connections across different regions in the brain. The good news is, we know that the brain can change in a way that may lead to improvements for your child or teen. The Brain Balance program exercises and activities are uniquely designed to help strengthen and build new connections by using a combination of physical, sensory, and cognitive activities. These new, efficient, and effective connections in the brain lead to improvements in our ability to complete cognitive tasks and in our executive functioning:
When these skills and functions improve, a child may feel improved confidence and be better equipped to engage and thrive in the world around them.
The Brain Balance program was recently part of a research study conducted by Harvard University’s McLean Hospital. The research study focused on the impact of aspects of the Brain Balance program, completed at home, on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).We are incredibly excited to share the preliminary findings of this ongoing research.

His is going to be a long one, so bear with me :)
My husband and I enrolled our then 8-year-old in the Brain Balance program after we started seeing a few behaviors that no longer were consistent with his joyful & sweet personality. At school, while he was still making A's, his teachers were concerned because he was distracted most of the time and eventually they saw a defensive attitude in him.
We saw that same defensiveness at home, and then came episodes of anger/frustration. He wasn't ADHD or ADD and so after trying child counseling, we took him to the Allen Brain Balance facility for an assessment. At this point, we were desperate to understand what was happening to our usually sweet & loving boy.
After the first 2 months, I was strongly convinced that BB was a mistake and would not work. He had stronger episodes of anger and frustration and things at school weren't much better, except his grades always stayed constant. By the end of March, his teachers were sending me emails letting me know the improvements they were witnessing with him. Earlier during the height of this, he cried about going to school, and months later, he was enjoying it all again and he expressed his love for his teachers and for math! At home, we started seeing a far more mature kid and that joyful and happy kid was back with us and has been with us ever since. He's still VERY disorganized, likes to daydream, and stays off task here and there, but he manages it, or better said, we all help manage it better and best, he goes to school happy, is proud of his accomplishments and I love seeing him play the piano with joy and pride. He's even taken chess and loves it!
It's not perfect, but my happy kid is back and all I ever wanted was for him to have a chance. The most valuable thing I learned was to understand how my Kid's brain works and how it impacts his personality and this has allowed me to be more patient, understanding, and compassionate with my own son. As a family we communicate far better, and we work on understanding each other's needs without placing too much pressure on outcome. My son thrives being him and yes, there are times I have to remind him that he has the ability to succeed in certain areas he doesn't like, but now he does it for him and we let him fail and in failing we've become closer & stronger.
The Brain Balance program has benefited all of our family. Nine months later, he is going strong, but we know this process isn't over. We still read the Reconnected & Disconnected Books, as well as the Whole Brain Child - these have been pivotal in gaining understanding. We also have our monthly check-ins & our stimulation activities at home.
Sorry for the long message, but I hope you find some of this helpful & hopeful. My prayers and best wishes for any of you battling this... Your child is BEAUTIFUL, don't give up on him/her... it's complicated but with Faith, Hope, Love, and a mix of Science, all is possible.
Thank you Brain Balance team: Allison, Marcus, and the ones that worked directly with Xavi - he always felt sooo happy & welcomed there.
This kid was struggling, but no one could see it but us. I knew he was struggling in Kindergarten, but it wasn't showing up educationally. Again, in first grade.. still not seeing it at school. Second grade, third grade, and fourth grade... still nothing. At school conferences, I would sit across the table from teachers and think to myself, "Who is this kid they are talking about?" "Surely, they have my kid mixed up with someone else." The kid that they were describing, was NOT the kid that we saw at home. I remember one of his teachers saying, "I wish I could have 25 Lincolns." 🤯
At the end of fourth grade, teachers finally began to see some characteristics of ADHD and it was brought to our attention. Finally, the educational need was there; however, they were seeing just a snippet of what we were seeing at home.
No one at school, church, or other friends saw the impulsive, argumentative, high-anxiety, unorganized, explosive, aggressive kid that we were seeing because he was holding "all of this" in UNTIL he got home. It was like shaking a champagne bottle for 7 hours and then popping the cork -- EXPLOSION!🍾🍾
Some of you are probably reading this and thinking that WE are talking about a different kid, but we aren't.
Josh and I walked on eggshells in our own home because we didn't know what would set him off. We tried a psychologist and we did all the rating scales. The rating scales were off the charts, but since he wasn't showing these same behaviors across ALL situations, they couldn't put an ACRONYM to it. Honestly, we weren't looking for an ACRONYM, we just wanted someone to help him.
I decided to try Brain Balance. Being in the educational field, I had heard about them and of course, I had been hearing their commercials on the radio. So we decided to just get an assessment. Brain Balance told us, we didn't have to put Lincoln into the program if we didn't want to, but we should at least get an evaluation.
Last May, Lincoln went in for his initial assessment and we were shocked, to say the least. His brain was NOT balanced. Again, being in the educational field I had read several books on the brain and Brain Balance fell right in line with what I knew. Lincoln's brain was not developed.
I could go on and on about this and if anyone wants to know more, I would love to sit down and have coffee with you.☕️❤️
But after 72 sessions (M-W-F), daily exercises that took 20-30 minutes, and a lot of HARD WORK, DETERMINATION, and GRIT. Lincoln GRADUATED! 🤩🤩 We are so PROUD of him and bottom line... HE IS PROUD!
To say our household has changed, would be an understatement. No one knows except us. We are forever grateful for Brain Balance. It literally changed our lives and saved Lincoln.
“Sophia has jumped up six points in her reading level….”
“The challenges that initially brought my family into the center were that my daughter was reading below her grade level and hated reading. She did not have the motivation to study or learn, and she had a hard time wearing different textures of clothing like jeans or shirts with anything on them. I saw Sophia’s struggles melt away as she progressed through her 3-month program. Sophia will now sit with her tutor for 2 hours and read without taking breaks. This is a huge accomplishment considering before Brain Balance she hated to read for five minutes!! Sophia is now more independent with her homework and will take the initiative to sit down and work on it without being told or having to argue about it. Sophia is also wearing many different textures of clothing than was ever possible before Brain Balance.
Brain Balance has not only impacted Sophia but it has changed our family dynamic. Going through the program we learned how to have fun as a family while still being able to make progress with her academic struggles. Before Brain Balance, it was a constant argument to get her to read or even attempt to do her homework.
For anyone who is thinking about enrolling their child into the Brain Balance program, I would totally recommend it! The staff has been extremely supportive of our family as we went through the program and helped in every way they could. They even offer simple and easy steps to perform at home to help your child succeed in different areas.
I also would like to say thank you to the Allen Center because it made me realize that I was once a child myself. Seeing how the staff interacts with each and every child reminded me that Sophia needed more tolerance and appreciation at home from me as a parent. I was a demanding parent that wanted to keep her grades up to avoid negative school meetings. But now I have a new perspective oh how to handle Sophia’s school success.”
– Maria, Sophia’s Mom
“Jay is now recognizing letters and just read his first sentence!!”
“We adopted Jay at three years old, we knew Jay was delayed in most areas especially speech, self-control, and maintaining eye contact. He’d made huge progress with us in the first two years but when his brother started to surpass him in language learning we became concerned. Jay also seemed to have difficulty recognizing any symbols or letters. There was a definite disconnect and we suspected it may be Dyslexia.
We saw an improvement by doing Balance 360. It showed us what pieces of his diet were contributing to his emotional and angry outbursts. There is no more gluten for him and we have seen dramatic behavior improvements from this. Another Dramatic improvement was the abrupt stop of bedwetting. Before Brain Balance, he wet the bed 5 nights a week and once we started BB it went down to none. Now he doesn’t wet the bed at all!! His memory and ability to link names and sounds have improved. Before Brain Balance, he knew 4 or 5 letters and numbers and would constantly mix them up. Now he knows all of his letters and numbers 1-20. Speech has been a struggling area for him too and we have seen improvements in this area, he is starting to be able to make new sounds.
This program has made us as parents more capable of helping him find that balance and to know where the imbalances are. Watching Jay progress from a child that was struggling with all types of language learning to one who is excited to learn and wants to read has been so worth the investment of time, energy, and money.
In Brain Balance, you get what you give. Brain Balance is a lot of work and a big financial investment. It is not easy by any measure but if you really go for it, you WILL see growth.”
– April, Jays Mother
“Jeremiah now invites friends over to hang out and sits with a group of kids at lunch every day…”
“I sought out Brain Balance because Jeremiah was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism and I saw that Brain Balance could help remediate some of the symptoms. When he was diagnosed they said his left brain was at an age of 18 and his right brain was at an age of 7. The struggles he saw from this grave brain imbalance were verbalizing what he was thinking, understanding his emotions, impulse control, motivation with regards to school and grades, and socially connecting with peers.
As we went through the Brain Balance program we saw these struggles improve in many ways! Jeremiah started expressing himself verbally when he would get frustrated instead of physically or shutting down. Jeremiah began to cultivate social relationships and see the importance of them. He started to invite friends over regularly and coordinate card playing tournaments that would last nearly eight hours, before Brain Balance he would only want friends to stay for a couple of hours and then be done. Jeremiah even started to show great initiative at school. His Teacher said that he started coming up to her to check in and see if he had any assignments that were not turned just to make sure that he was on top of everything.
If I was speaking to someone who is contemplating enrolling their child I would tell them that it is worth every penny and joining the program to help your child is no different than seeking out the best of the best for your child if they had cancer. The program not only met the goals I had set for my son but it went above in beyond in the way it impacted our lives. It is a sacrifice and a commitment to join the program but it SO worth it!”
– Randi, Jeremiah’s Mother

Sydney Wesson received her B.S in Kinesiology from Texas Tech University. Sydney has worked with kids in several different settings including foster care, coaching, and being a teacher at a pre-school. At these facilities, she was able to work with a broad range of kids from many different backgrounds. Working with kids is more than just a job to Sydney, she sees it as a way to truly make a difference in not just one person’s life, but the life of an entire family. Sydney also has also received her Occupational therapy assistant degree. She intends to continue to learn about the development of children and how to aid in developmental delays. I received my B.S in Kinesiology from Texas Tech University as well as my M.S in Exercise Physiology from UT at Arlington. I have worked/observed in Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy clinics as well as interning with FC Dallas working with their professional first team as well as their academy teams ranging from 12-18 years old along-side the athletic training staff. Having all those different experiences has shaped my way of interacting and helping kids/adults of all ages achieve what they set out to do in life from the smallest goal to conquering the world in all aspects if they so desire. Whether it was to recover from a surgery, increase small motor dexterity or improve hand-eye coordination or visual processing, and so on and so forth I have had true joy in helping people. I work here at Brain Balance because I want to help kids' lives improve to the fullest extent that we can provide to not only help their lives as a whole in the short term but in the long term as well. To see every kid walk through the door/ leave happy and with a smile on their face knowing that they're accomplishing their goals. As well I want to help the parents through accomplishing those goals and seeing their kids make strides in their everyday lives thus making an impact on their lives too. Some of my interests are designing exercise periodization programs, running, fishing, and spending time with family.
