Medication-Free Approach for kids and Young Adults Struggling with Dyslexia

Helping Children With Dyslexia Through The Brain Balance Program

What is Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that primarily affects reading and language-based processing skills. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These challenges are not indicative of overall intelligence but are instead specific to the processing of written language.

Key Characteristics of Dyslexia

  1. Reading Difficulties:
    • Trouble recognizing familiar words.
    • Slow and labor-intensive reading.
    • Difficulty decoding new words (sounding out).
  2. Spelling Problems:
    • Persistent difficulty with spelling, often spelling the same word differently within the same document.
    • Frequent spelling errors that are not phonetic (e.g., spelling "said" as "sed").
  3. Writing Challenges:
    • Poor organization of written work.
    • Problems with grammar and punctuation.
    • Difficulty copying from the board or another piece of text.
  4. Phonological Processing Issues:
    • Difficulty with phonemic awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds in words).
    • Problems with phonological memory (recalling sounds, syllables, or words).
  5. Language Processing:
    • Trouble understanding and following rapid instructions.
    • Difficulty remembering sequences (e.g., days of the week).

The Brain Balance Centers of Allen and North Dallas helps children find success both inside and outside of the classroom by overcoming their social, academic, and/or behavioral challenges. The Brain Balance Program has helped tens of thousands of children with learning and developmental issues through our holistic approach. The Brain Balance Program is able to help children with dyslexia and other learning disorders by creating a customized plan just for them! In order to identify each child’s unique challenges, a child is given a personalized assessment to complete upon enrollment in the program. The assessment consists of sensory motor and academic testing and is performed in a single session. We will use what we learn based on the results of the personal assessment to set up your child’s program regimen.

The Brain Balance Centers of Allen and North Dallas works to improve developmental functions with your child through a drug-free, integrated approach. The Brain Balance Program in Allen and North Dallas

Dyslexia is a learning disorder that causes children to have difficulty reading and is often identified once a child reaches kindergarten. Dyslexia can show itself in different ways and can involve a number of reading challenges. Children with dyslexia may have difficulty recognizing letters, learning letter sounds, and identifying rhyming words. Early signs of dyslexia in children can include poor fine motor skills, trouble learning the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, and learning to talk later than most children.

The Brain Balance Centers of Allen and North Dallas has developed a dyslexia program that can help improve a child’s processing and learning ability, leading to a more successful academic and personal life. Although dyslexia is a lifelong learning disability, the right approach to dyslexia can help to improve reading, spelling, and writing skills. Your child’s personalized plan through The Brain Balance Program is focused on helping your child overcome their academic challenges. Most of our dyslexia plans include up to 3 weekly in-center visit as well as activities and exercises to practice while at home. These activities give you the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with your child and help to support the in-center sessions.
