Brain Balance does not require that a child has a medical diagnosis, nor do we clinically diagnose medical conditions. Our focus is on understanding the struggles these children experience and helping them develop and strengthen the connections to help reduce those struggles.
For those who do have a diagnosis,1 research has shown that the unique challenges your child is facing can be linked to weak connections across different regions of the brain.
The Brain Balance assessment provides you with a deeper view of your child’s struggles. During the assessment, your child’s sensory, motor and cognitive development are evaluated. This assessment helps identify areas of development that need strengthening. The reasons why a child may excel in some areas but has trouble in others will become clearer. From the results, we create a plan that helps your child overcome their struggles.
Fill out our form now to get started. A Brain Balance team member will reach out to personally discuss your child’s challenges and schedule your child’s assessment.
When kids struggle with focus, behavior or sensory processing, it can be linked to weak connections across different regions in the brain. The good news is, we know that the brain can change in a way that may lead to improvements for your child or teen. The Brain Balance program exercises and activities are uniquely designed to help strengthen and build new connections by using a combination of physical, sensory, and cognitive activities. These new, efficient, and effective connections in the brain lead to improvements in our ability to complete cognitive tasks and in our executive functioning:
When these skills and functions improve, a child may feel improved confidence and be better equipped to engage and thrive in the world around them.
The Brain Balance program was recently part of a research study conducted by Harvard University’s McLean Hospital. The research study focused on the impact of aspects of the Brain Balance program, completed at home, on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).We are incredibly excited to share the preliminary findings of this ongoing research.

Kindall Byres has 15 years’ experience working with children and earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development at Texas Woman’s University. She spent 4 years working for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) as a Developmental Specialist right after college. ECI has given Kindall the knowledge to work with children (0-3 years old) and their families in their homes. Kindall started Brain Balance in 2013 with the ambition of helping kids of all ages, not just 0-3 years. Kindall believes that there is no other program out there that can help children the way Brain Balance does. She wishes that every family could better understand the root of how to help their children achieve success based on their strengths and weaknesses. Kindall will always use the tools and knowledge Brain Balance has given her to continue to educate and help as many families as possible.
Michelle Gammage comes to Brain Balance with experience in nonprofit management and with the special needs community; as an advocate, a resource, a teacher, and a friend. She spent much of her time getting to know her clients, and their families, helping to find services and resources to keep each individual as independent and productive as possible. Her goal was to help improve the quality of life within each family. She is passionate about helping each person find their own potential – and watching each blossom as they accomplish this. It is this passion, accompanied by the mission of the organization, that drew Michelle to Brain Balance. She is embracing the opportunities that surface within each family to watch each child learn and grow while supporting families as they evolve through the work of Brain Balance.
Alex Wilkins earned her BS in Child Development and Psychology from Texas Christian University. As a child who struggled, Alex is passionate about helping children of all abilities reach their full potential. She has over 7 years of experience serving children and families as a patient advocate for the children’s hospital in San Diego. She has also worked with children of trauma by assisting in classrooms and implementing the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Alex started as a Sensory-Motor Coach and Assessor before becoming Assistant Director. She loves that Brain Balance addresses the whole child and empowers children to reach success despite their labels or challenges. Her goal is to put a smile on every family’s face when they walk in our door!
Jason Caldwell has 19 years of experience. Jason taught Art to High School students for 12 years. There he also worked with the special education kids for 3 years. Jason moved on from teaching to doing ABA with kids for 2 years and he has been at Brain Balance for the last 2.5 years. Jason likes that Brain Balance addresses the actual root cause and identifies a solution rather than just managing struggles or symptoms. Over all of Jason’s experience, his favorite part of Brain Balance is getting to build relationships with the kids and getting to work with them on a one-on-one level.
