Center Director

Rebecca’s calling is to help children overcome their unique challenges and see them reach their full potential. Rebecca graduated from the University of Kansas with a B. S. in Health & Physical Education. She has been working with children who struggle with special needs for the past 12 years. Rebecca has a passion for a whole-body approach to healing including exercise and nutrition. She has worked at Brain Balance for eight years and is the Center Director in Overland Park, KS. In her free time Rebecca enjoys being a certified fitness instructor and a mother to her 17-year-old son.

 

Rebecca will assist your family by:

  • Conducting initial intake and reviewing results from assessments;
  • Visiting schools on behalf of students and presenting information to educators, counselors, and other professionals;
  • Providing ongoing support for families through monthly meetings to discuss progress
Erica Baxter

Erica Baxter

Assistant Director

Erica is a native of Midlothian, TX. She has spent 30 years in the Kansas City area raising her seven children and spoiling her five grandchildren. Erica has 15 years of experience as a preschool teacher, which makes her an invaluable member of our team.

 

Erica will assist your family by:

  • Navigating financial options and payment plans
  • Scheduling student and parent appointments
  • Managing the student incentive program
Brittney Bishop

Brittney Bishop

Assistant Director

Brittney comes to our center from Highlandville, MO. She graduated Cum Laude from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, with a B.A. in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. Brittney’s experience as a collegiate volleyball player has prepared her for helping students maintain motivation and strive for success.

 

Brittney will assist your family by:

  • Developing individualized at-home exercises
  • Coordinating student sensory motor and academic skill training
  • Promoting Brain Balance within the community and maintaining social media accounts
Allison Ainslie

Allison Ainslie

Sensory Motor Coach

Allison is a native Virginian who received a B.S. in Health Sciences from James Madison University. Her freshman year of college, Allison was able to participate in a program offered through the National Outdoor Leadership School, in which she spent 90 days hiking and wilderness camping through Utah and Wyoming; this experience equipped Allison with problem solving skills that have translated into success as a Brain Balance coach.

 

Allison will assist your family by:

  • Coaching and evaluating students through sensory motor exercises
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records for each student
  • Motivating and encouraging students throughout each sensory motor session

Angie Akers

Academic Coach

Angie joins our team from Broken Arrow, OK. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma State University and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society. As a certified teacher, Angie spent 5 years working with Oliver Middle School in Oklahoma, an experience which prepared her for addressing the unique challenges faced by each of our students.

  • Coaching and evaluating students through academic activities
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records for each student
  • Motivating and encouraging students throughout each academic session

Sensory Motor Coach and Academic Assessment Proctor

Laura has been with Brain Balance of Overland Park for two years. She has a B.S. in Child and Adolescent Development with a minor in Psychology. Laura’s experience as a competitive gymnast and an Irish Dancer brings her an advantage with modeling a healthy and active lifestyle. Laura also enjoys learning about the brain and identifying ways to help children reach their full potential.

  • Coaching and evaluating students through sensory motor exercises
  • Proctoring academic assessments
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records for each student
Sarah Medley

Sarah Medley

Sensory Motor Coach and Academic Coach

Sarah graduated from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO, with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. Previous experience as an assistant at Midwest Neurology and Chiropractic Center gives her unique insight into the science behind the Brain Balance program. Sarah’s wit and positive demeanor create an environment in which students can actively engage in achieving success.

  • Coaching and evaluating students through sensory motor and academic exercises
  • Facilitating sensory motor assessments
