Khushi Shah
Program Director
Khushi Shah is the Program Director at Brain Balance, where she is sincerely dedicated to supporting both parents and clients on their journey toward growth and transformation. With a deep passion for the mind-body connection, Khushi is committed to using science-backed, creative, and mindful approaches to strengthen the brain and help children thrive — exactly the kind of work Brain Balance is known for.
Before joining the team, Khushi worked as a therapist for children with neurodiversity, a role that solidified her love for working with young minds. She earned her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, with a focus on children’s social and emotional wellbeing.
Outside of her professional life, Khushi enjoys cooking, spending time in nature, meditating, practicing yoga, and exploring holistic wellness through books and podcasts. She believes that food, laughter, movement, and the natural world are powerful forms of healing. A lifelong fan of Bollywood dancing and Hindi cinema, she brings joy and creativity into everything she does.
Khushi believes that consistency is more important than intensity — small, daily efforts lead to meaningful progress over time. She also emphasizes the importance of play, both in life and in learning, as it’s one of the brain’s most effective tools for development.
Isabel Hackenberry
Assistant Program Director
Isabel Hackenberry is deeply passionate about supporting children and families through a psychological lens. She brings both professional training and meaningful personal experience to her work, fueling a strong dedication to helping others grow and thrive. Isabel chose to work at Brain Balance because of its holistic approach — one that not only strengthens the brain-body connection but also builds lasting confidence and essential life skills.
Isabel holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Psychological Science at Rutgers University–Camden. Her academic background, combined with hands-on experience, shapes her compassionate and well-informed approach to supporting children’s development.
She also has international experience working at Rancho Santa Marta, a children’s orphanage in Mexico, where she volunteered to help build schools and support children who have experienced abuse, poverty, and neglect. This formative experience continues to inform her empathetic and trauma-informed mindset.
In her free time, Isabel enjoys traveling, reading, and expanding her understanding of psychology through both academic study and real-world engagement. She thrives on exploring new ideas and places, always looking for ways to deepen her perspective and bring that insight back into her work with children and families.
Isabel believes that patience is key — and that with consistent effort, both children and their families can achieve meaningful, lasting progress.
