New Funding Options May Help Eligible North Carolina Families Pay for Brain Balance

Families participating in the ESA+ Program may be able to use their scholarship funds toward the Brain Balance Comprehensive Assessment and Program, helping reduce the out-of-pocket cost of providing their child with additional support.
What Is the North Carolina ESA+ Scholarship?
The Education Student Accounts (ESA+) Program provides scholarship funds to help North Carolina families pay for education and approved services for children with disabilities.
The program offers a base annual award, with a higher award available to students with certain designated disabilities. Funds may be used for approved educational expenses and services through enrolled ESA+ providers.

Who May Qualify for ESA+?
The ESA+ Scholarship is available to eligible students with disabilities who require special education services.
As part of the application process, families must submit an Eligibility Determination issued by a North Carolina public school. This legal document confirms whether a student has a disability and is eligible for special education or related services.
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is not required to apply, but the student must have an accepted Eligibility Determination. Families should review the current requirements and application dates on the official ESA+ website.
