Dr. Kendel Knudson, OTD, OTR/L

Executive Director, Brain Balance of Bloomington-Normal

Dr. Knudson is a licensed occupational therapist with over 12 years of experience helping children build confidence and independence through movement, play, and learning. She began her career in the hospital setting where she worked in acute care, outpatient neuro, and outpatient pediatrics before transitioning to the school system in 2018. For the past several years she has supported students and families across multiple schools and supervised a team of occupational therapy assistants.

Dr. Knudson's journey to Brain Balance began with her own son's struggles with attention and behavior. While medication provided some help, she wanted to find a more holistic, lasting option that addressed the "why" behind his challenges. She was drawn to the Brain Balance approach which looks at the whole child-incorporating nutrition, sensory, reflex integration and other brain based exercises.

Dr. Knudson recognized a real need for this type of comprehensive program and felt a deep calling to bring Brain Balance to her community. Dr. Knudson is a lifelong learner who loves understanding the "why" behind behavior and development. Her years of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist helped her develop a passion for understanding the science and neurodevelopment foundations that help children thrive. As a mom of three boys, including one with ADHD, Kendel deeply understands the challenges families face and brings that compassion into everything she does. She's dedicated to building a team that leads with love, kindness, and a shared desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of local children and their families.
