We Help Kids Who Struggle With ADHD

Brain Balance Achievement Center of Pasadena Helps Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Children With ADHD

At Brain Balance Achievement Center of Pasadena, we are able to help you and your child manage the symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD refers to a disorder in which children struggle to pay attention, are extremely active, and act impulsively. Children with ADHD may daydream a lot, not seem to listen well, are easily distracted from schoolwork or play, forget things, and struggle with sitting still. Children with ADHD can be affected behaviorally and academically as they face these challenges in their daily life.

ADHD is the result of decreased right brain activity. The right hemisphere of the brain regulates social behavior, impulsivity, and attention. For children with ADHD, decreased right brain activity causes inappropriate social behaviors, impulsive actions, and lack of attention. The best child ADHD program addresses the child’s specific type of ADHD through a natural, whole-child approach.

There are 3 different types of ADHD: inattentive type, hyperactive-impulsive type, and combined type. With the inattentive type, children struggle to focus on tasks and activities while children who fall under the hyperactive-impulsive category struggle with the constant need to be active and with the tendency to act without thinking. Children who are classified as combined type struggle with inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

The ADHD Program at Brain Balance Achievement Center of Pasadena

After completing a personal assessment, the Brain Balance Achievement Center of Pasadena is able to determine the best way to address your child’s needs and develop their personalized program. Every child with ADHD is unique, and this assessment identifies deficits in functions or skills your child may have to allow us to focus on their individual needs instead of employing a one-size-fits-all solution. Our integrated approach to ADHD in children includes a robust program that includes sensory motor training, academic activities, nutrition plans, and at-home exercises. The carefully structured and coordinated combination of the program elements helps establish proper brain and body function leading to a reduction or elimination of negative symptoms and behaviors, and improves the ability to learn academically, socially and emotionally.
