Dr. Robert Melillo discusses the importance of language and verbal development and the corresponding milestones in his book Disconnected Kids. A delay in these milestones can offer cues as to whether a child has functional disconnection syndrome, a disconnection between the left and right sides of the developing brain and his proposed cause of disorders such as autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
When she started the Brain Balance program she had low muscle tone, very limited language, no sense of smell and poor eye contact. By the end of 6 months, she was reading out loud in class, skipping across the yard, climbing trees monkey bars and rock walls, writing her name, smelling everything, having conversations instead of repeating phrases over and over, making and keeping eye contact, and the list goes on and on.
Max is an 8-year-old boy who has been diagnosed as a high-functioning autistic kid, someone with significant delays in speech & language development, and even auditory processing issues. We’ve had him evaluated and tested more than any kid should ever have to put up with. Luckily we were able to recognize some of his challenges at a young age, and through early intervention we’ve had him enrolled in speech therapy and other language services. While that has proved to be a benefit, we haven’t seen improvements and strides like we have in the past 12 weeks like we have with Brain Balance.
